Yes, put your wallet in your front pocket at all times. Don’t leave your luggage in the room still in the suit case. You might hear many things about the Philippines. And about half is true. But the people are nice and friendly. Just don’t be a sucker and fall for every deal that sounds great. But make your own opinion.
And check out the beaches. They can be really nice. Go scuba diving. You’ll have to take a class, but it’s for only one day. And well worth it. Have a great time and do get out of the hotel area from time to time .

    Don’t take the wife,just kidding.
Stay out of Manila its a cesspool, the rest of the country and its people are amazing and i wouldnt be worried about my wallet at all if I was in Cebu.
The visayas are gorgeous, ferries and internal flights are very cheap with cebu pacific, dont book until you get there.Manila to cebu is only $29 each way.
Bohol is a great place to visit especially panglao and alona beach.Borocay is the Ibiza of the philippines but pretty amazing beaches.Car hire is not very cheap but taxis are.
Its a great place ,hawaii for pennies on the dollar when you get out of the city, deserted beaches crystal warm water,i miss it dearly. If you have any specific questions drop me a line dwilliams3456@hotmail.com

I would still be very carefull with your wallet, jewelry, cellphone anywhere you go. They’ll know that you are a balikbayan somehow. Bring lots of cash/credit cards. You’ll sure need them!

First of all congratulations you sure picked one good place to spend it. Even though you may hear some bad and good things I can honestly say that anything bad that you hear will be overcome by all the good that you will experience there. Ok so I’m guessing that you’ve already planned where you’ll be staying and going.

I’ll start you off on general things that you should adhere to while your in the Pines.

    1. Don’t dress to the point where you will attract unwanted attention to yourselves ie don’t wear heaps of jewellery things like that.

    2. Carry modest amounts of cash wherever you go. Don’t absolutely fill your wallet just incase its gets stolen. Good tip also break your cash up by having some in your wallet and some in one of your pockets.

    3. Don’t drink the local water, don’t drink anything that has ice.

4.Bring some toilet paper with you because most malls don’t have toilet paper in the toilets because people steal them. Most malls do however have toilets where you pay like 10 pesos to use and thats nothing really. But be carefull as you wouldn’t want to be in a situation where you don’t have paper to use.

    5. Tipping is also something you must do as the service you will recieve in the pines is probably some of the best in the world and they do earn the tips they recieve. So its up to you how much you leave but its always polite to leave minum 50 pesos. thats like a dollar.

Thats about it but if you need more advice search the net I’m sure you’ll get heaps more info. Have a good time in the Pines

travel on a package tour the best so you don’t get short changed.. include Bohol or Boracay or Palawan if you like beach and having the fresh seafood and privacy. You can think of going to Baguio- Banawe to see the rice terraces (but check the weather first). It is nice to go there because the weather is cold. You can include Subic Bay for fun and adventure. No need to stay too long in Manila. If in Manila, go to Intramuros to visit history, Ayala Museum, 168 for shopping, Chinatown for food trip and jewelry and Chinese stuffs, visit some malls like Mall of Asia – the newest in town.
Another thing, is be wary of strangers… your money and travel documents you need to safe keep and don’t bring so much cash out. If you stay in hotel. ask for the cab service. Unless you have relatives here that can bring you around
